An Introduction

For many, chamber music is the most sublime, perfect and beautiful music ever heard. The Martha's Vineyard Chamber Music Society prides itself in offering the finest professional performances of all types of classical chamber music - from the 17th century to the 21st, from Bach to Brubeck to Subotnick - played by world-class musicians in the gorgeous setting of the island of Martha's Vineyard.

Eclipse Quartet & Dee Stevens

To celebrate our 40th anniversary, musical director Delores Stevens. has programmed a magnificent festival of masterworks including a new commission by famous American composer and conductor, Gunther Schuller. As well as our important anniversary we will celebrate the anniversaries of Schumann (including his popular piano quintet) and Chopin. Amongst the many other musical delights are Schubert's Trout Quintet and brass music from Vivaldi, Poulenc and Schickele.

The festival runs from July 12th to August 10th with concerts at 8pm Mondays (at the Edgartown Old Whaling Church) and Tuesdays (at the Chilmark Community Center). Tickets are $30 and are available at the door (children and full-time students are free).

Why not make your time on the Vineyard even more memorable with a spiritual and uplifting experience of live chamber music from MVCMS?
